Surgeons say that watching thrilling matches live increases the risk of heart attack for those with angina, coronary artery disease and irregular heartbeats or arrhythmias.
Dr. Kunal Sarkar says that fans should avoid watching live matches, especially penalty shootouts.
Referring to the 2006 German survey, cardiologist Anjan Swetia of the BM Birla Heart Research Center said, “Heart attacks increased significantly during this period, especially when the Germany match was played.”
