Lahore High Court rejected the petition against the arrest of Fawad Chaudhry

The Lahore High Court rejected the petition against the arrest of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) central leader Fawad Chaudhry.

According to the report, Justice Tariq Saleem Sheikh of Lahore High Court remarked on the petition that the case before me is of habeas corpus, how can it be called habeas corpus if the FIR has been presented in the court?

The court said that earlier this case was of habeas corpus but not now as the FIR has been filed.

It should be remembered that Secretary Election Commission Umar Hameed registered a case against Fawad Chaudhry in Kohsar police station Islamabad, after which the police detained him from his residence in Lahore this morning.

According to the Islamabad Police, Fawad Chaudhry threatened the Chief Election Commissioner and members to prevent them from performing their duties while trying to create violence against the constitutional institutions and inflame the sentiments of the people.

PTI filed a petition challenging the arrest of Fawad Chaudhry in the Lahore High Court through Ahmed Pansuta Advocate, in which it was held that Fawad Chaudhry’s arrest was illegal, he was not even shown the FIR.

The petitioner said that the police did not give the reasons for the arrest, Fawad Chaudhry is a lawyer of the Supreme Court and a former federal minister.
