Islamabad: Election Commission of Pakistan has postponed the Punjab elections.

According to News, after the Election Commission postponed the Punjab elections, the elections will now be held on October 8.

It should be noted that the court had ordered elections to be held on April 30 in Punjab and KP.

In a statement issued by the Election Commission, it was said that it is not possible to hold transparent elections in Punjab on March 30, while the Election Commission has decided to hold elections in Punjab on October 8.

The spokesman says that the president has also been informed about the postponement of the elections in Punjab.

The Election Commission spokesperson says that the elections have been postponed under Article 2018(3) and Section 58 and 8C of the Election Act 2017.

The spokesperson of the Election Commission said that all the institutions have recommended to postpone the election, it is not possible to conduct clean and transparent elections in the current situation.

It should be remembered that the Chief Justice of Pakistan Umar Atta Bandiyal has also made it clear during a hearing today that the Supreme Court will intervene if there is malfeasance in the transparent elections.
