Fruit prices drop sharply in Karachi after ‘fruit boycott’

Frustrated by rising prices and profits during Ramadan, Pakistani citizens have launched a nationwide boycott of fruit vendors.

Social media has been flooded with posts calling for a boycott of fruit sellers above set prices. The hashtag #BoycottFruits is trending, and many are encouraging others to join the protest. The campaign has broad support from Pakistanis who believe they charge too much for basic necessities because vendors do not adhere to a government-set price list.

The fruit boycott campaign against inflation was successful and the citizens of Karachi saw fruit prices fall.

Many social media users applauded the campaign and shared the campaign results that the fruit is cheaper than the previous ones. Some Karachi citizens say fruit prices in the city have dropped by 50% to 70%
