Dubai has the longest automated metro system in the world

Dubai Metro holds the Guinness World Record for the world’s longest driverless metro network at 74,695 km, officials said on Tuesday.

The record was set taking into account the total length of the green and red metro lines.

This achievement has already been achieved since in September 2011, the Dubai Metro Red Line set a new world record for the longest driverless metro line at 52 km.

Roads and Transportation Authority (RTA) Chairman and CEO Mattar Al Tayer received a Guinness Certificate from Guinness World Records Middle East Regional Director Talal Omar at RTA Headquarters on Monday.

Al Tayer dedicated this achievement to His Highness Sheikh Mohammad bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, the driving force behind the Dubai Metro project.
