Turkey: Construction of houses for earthquake victims started

Ankara: Reconstruction of houses for people displaced by the earthquake has started in Turkey, 200,000 apartments and 70,000 houses will be built in villages.

According to Urdu News, Turkey has started rebuilding houses after this month’s devastating earthquake. On the other hand, the total number of people killed in the earthquake in Turkey and Syria has exceeded 50 thousand.

Turkey’s Disaster and Emergency Management Authority announced that the death toll rose to 44,218 as of Friday night, while Syria’s latest figures put the death toll at 5,914.

Turkish President Recep Tayyab Erdogan has promised to rebuild homes for victims within a year, experts say, but authorities should put safety standards before speed in construction.

A Turkish government official said on condition of anonymity that tenders and contracts have been awarded for several projects, the process is progressing very quickly and there will be no compromise on safety standards.

Officials say additional tents have been sent to the displaced, but victims complain they face a shortage of tents.

Queuing for help outside a school in the town of Hasa, 67-year-old Malik said he had eight children and was living in a tent, adding that it was still raining and the ground was wet. .

According to the initial plan of the Turkish government, 200,000 apartments and 70,000 houses in villages are to be built at a cost of 15 billion dollars.

According to the estimate of JP Morgan Bank of America, 25 billion dollars will be required for the reconstruction of the residences and infrastructure of the earthquake victims in Turkey.
