Morocco will spend 580 million dollars to promote tourism

Morocco: The Moroccan government has decided to take important measures to promote tourism, under which 580 million dollars will be invested to attract tourists.

In this regard, the statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office said that Morocco plans to spend 6.1 billion dirhams (i.e. 580 million dollars) until the year 2026 to develop the tourism sector in order to attract more tourists.

According to a foreign news agency report, in an official statement, the government spokesperson said that the government plans to spend more money on marketing, developing tourist attractions, upgrading hotels and building more new hotels.

The initiative aims to attract 17.5 million tourists by 2026, up from 11 million last year, the statement said. More than 13 million tourists visited Morocco in 2019.

The government statement added that the project would help create 2 lakh new jobs in the sector over the next four years.

Last year, the sector’s revenue more than doubled to 91 billion dirhams in 2021, which is higher than last year’s level in 2019.

It should be noted that Morocco, located on the western edge of North Africa, is one of the important countries of the Islamic world, with Algeria in the east, Mauritania in the south, the Mediterranean Sea in the north, and the Atlantic Ocean in the west.

Located on the coast of the Atlantic Ocean, the border of this country meets the Mediterranean Sea at the Strait of Gibraltar. The soil of this region is fertile and rich in people, where there are abundant green gardens of olives, figs, grapes and citrus fruits.

Algeria, Tunisia and Morocco have been named by geographers as Maghrib and Maghreb, therefore it is also called Maghreb-e-Aqsa.

Rabat is the capital of Morocco and has a total population of around 33 million, the majority of whom are Muslims. Two-thirds of the population here speak Arabic and this language is the official language here.
