Pak Suzuki Motor Company Limited has announced to close the motorcycle plant from March 20 to March 31 due to shortage of parts and other basic components. In a stock filing, Pak Suzuki Motor Co Ltd said the car assembly plant will continue to operate.
Pak Suzuki Motor Company Limited sold 27 thousand 792 bikes assembled and 24 thousand 981 bikes during the first 8 months of the fiscal year 2023, which is 13 percent and 2 percent higher than 24 thousand 613 and 24 thousand 515 units respectively in the same period of the previous fiscal year.

It should be noted that earlier this month, Dongfeng Truck and JAC vehicle assembler Gandhara Nissan Limited had announced to stop production from March 6 to 10 due to shortage of parts.

Recently, the Pakistan Association of Automotive Parts and Accessories Manufacturers expressed deep concern over the rapidly deteriorating situation of the industry due to the worsening economic situation in the country, especially the devaluation of the rupee and restrictions on imports. This has led to massive production shutdowns leading to job losses in the auto sector.
Similarly, at the end of last month, Nishogar Engineering Limited announced the closure of its car plant from February 27 to March 4. Nishogar Engineering said that the reason for the shutdown was the government’s decision to reduce imports of parts and accessories. The supply chain was said to be affected due to the stringent measures.
Earlier, Indus Motor Company (IMC) had announced plant shutdown for the fourth time from February 1 to February 14 due to lack of demand and shortage of raw materials due to unfavorable economic conditions.
Auto vendor Agri Auto Industry Limited (AIL) has also announced a partial shutdown in February citing low demand for parts from auto manufacturers.
Similarly, Pak Suzuki Motor Company (Ltd) also announced to stop its production activities from January 2 to 6.
The company had said that its vendors continue to face major hurdles in raw material imports and clearance of consignments by commercial banks.
