Crores of rupees were stolen in the name of repairing shrines in Sindh

Karachi: The Sindh Awqaf Department has manipulated crores of rupees in the name of repairing the shrines of the saints, the inspection team of Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has sought details from the Secretary of the Awqaf Department.

According to the details, the corruption of the officials of Sindh Awqaf Department came to light, crores of rupees were manipulated in the name of repairing shrines.

The inspection team of Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah says that 10 crore funds were embezzled by the Awqaf Department for the offices, the department made advance payments to the contractors.

The Awqaf Department has embezzled the money given to repair the shrines of Sufi saints Sachal Sarmast and Noor Wali Shah among others.

The inspection team has sought details from the secretary of the endowment department.
