Israeli forces battle Hamas in southern Gaza, humanitarian concerns grow


A massive fire erupted in furniture shops located near Karachi’s Ayesha Manzil on Wednesday, resulting in the tragic loss of three lives, according to reports from Express News.

Firefighters battled fiercely to extinguish the flames, utilizing at least 12 fire tenders, a snorkel, and a bowser during several hours of intense efforts. SSP Central Faisal Abdullah Chachar confirmed the unfortunate deaths, with the ongoing search for potential additional individuals within the affected building. Preliminary investigations indicated that the fire was caused by a short circuit, causing significant damage not only to the shops but also to numerous vehicles parked in the vicinity.

The Pakistan Navy responded promptly to the emergency, dispatching fire tenders and personnel to assist in controlling the fire, as reported by the spokesperson of the Pakistan Navy. Sources revealed that goods worth millions of rupees were reduced to ashes, and shop owners made desperate attempts to salvage their belongings.

Emergency measures were imposed on water hydrants near Sakhi Hassan and NIPA to augment firefighting efforts. Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori took notice of the incident, directing Karachi Commissioner to prioritize the safety of individuals within the building and deploy all available resources to bring the fire under control. Acknowledging the diligent efforts of the fire brigade, Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab emphasized the administration’s commitment to preventing further spread of the fire.

In light of the incident, Sindh Caretaker Chief Minister Justice (retd) Maqbool Baqar swiftly directed authorities to contain the fire promptly. He instructed the commissioner and deputy commissioner to monitor the situation, urging the evacuation of people to safety. Additional fire brigade units were mobilized to the scene for prompt action in extinguishing the fire and mitigating further damage. The situation is evolving, and authorities are working diligently to manage the aftermath of this devastating incident.
