On Monday, Nawaz Sharif, the leader of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), expressed his ongoing disappointment regarding the removal of his government in 2017. He raised concerns about the possibility of manipulation in the 2018 elections, implying that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) may have been brought to power through questionable means.

While addressing potential candidates for the upcoming general elections in Lahore, Nawaz questioned the events surrounding the 2018 elections, emphasizing the nation’s desire for clarity on the matter. Leading the parliamentary board panel, he highlighted the need to rectify any perceived “mistakes” for the benefit of the nation. Throughout the session, the former prime minister underscored the importance of ethical conduct, asserting that true honor is derived from serving the people and prioritizing the country’s improvement over personal interests.

Nawaz asserted that in 2017, the country was on a positive trajectory, and there were expectations of PML-N’s success in the 2018 elections. He suggested that their strong performance posed a threat to the electoral prospects of other parties at that time.
