Upon receiving information about the incident, police and security agencies swiftly arrived at the scene. The child’s body was transported to a hospital for post-mortem examination, while the injured individuals were taken to Nishtar Hospital for treatment.

The junkyard in Tawakal Town, owned by Muhammad Ali, also served as his residence. According to the police, the 10-year-old son of Ahmar Ali found a toy-like object in a heap of junk and began playing with it. Tragically, the item contained explosive materials that detonated in the child’s hand, causing severe injuries that proved fatal. The blast also injured his father Ali, uncle Arif, and sister Mahnoor.

Sources suggested that the object the child was handling might have been a hand grenade, although the police have not confirmed this detail. An ongoing investigation is exploring all aspects of the incident, with police and security agencies sealing off the crime scene after collecting evidence.

The explosion drew a large crowd of local residents to the site, causing panic in the area. The blast, audible throughout the vicinity, heightened concerns among the community.

This unfortunate event follows a similar incident in June, where five people lost their lives and three were injured in an explosion at a home-built junk shop in Kot Addu. The blast prompted Inspector General of Punjab Police Dr. Usman Anwar to take notice, emphasizing the need for a thorough investigation to ascertain the facts before any legal action.

Separately, in Rawalpindi, a powerful gas cylinder blast in a two-storied residential building resulted in the death of a teenage boy and injuries to eight others, including women and children, in the Peoples Colony area earlier this week.

Additionally, the owner of a workshop in Kot Addu was killed in a recent incident when an oil tanker exploded during welding. The tanker driver and other mechanics were seriously injured and rushed to the hospital for medical attention. The authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding this incident.
