The year 2022 has been the worst year for the education sector of Sindh and according to a survey by a private organization, the education department has been declared as the most corrupt institution.
According to Sources, the rapidly passing year 2022 has been the worst year for the education sector of Sindh and in a survey by a private organization, the education department has been declared as the most corrupt institution. Even this year, ghost teachers could not be eliminated from schools.
In the year 2022, 356 billion rupees were kept in the annual budget for education in Sindh. However, the year proved to be unfortunate for education in the province and the number of school dropouts increased. 5 thousand school buildings are still damaged.
When the flood occurred, 20 thousand of the 49 thousand schools in the province were completely destroyed, due to which 2.3 lakh students were deprived of educational facilities and their educational future was put in question. So far, there are no effective measures for their rehabilitation.
This year too, government school teachers protested on the streets demanding permanent employment, but the protest of headmasters recruited in 2017 and contract teachers who have been employed for 10 years went in vain.
On the one hand, there was an unsuccessful protest by the contract teachers, on the other hand, the Sindh government had to face the failure to eliminate ghost teachers from schools in 2022. This year too, many teachers were dismissed from their jobs for non-attendance.
Talking about higher education in Sindh, University of Karachi, the largest university of Pakistan, also suffered from serious financial crisis. All the students of dozens of colleges of Sindh, including Shahr-e-Quaid, failed in the intermediate exams. Be it the Sindh Education Board examinations or the matters of professional universities and colleges, all the matters were seen as administrative malpractices.
