A private commercial helicopter carrying six individuals, including five foreigners, has been reported missing near Mount Everest in Nepal.
According to reports from Indian media, the helicopter was en route from Solukhumbu to Kathmandu, with the five foreign passengers identified as Mexican nationals.
Officials have stated that the helicopter lost communication at approximately 10 a.m. on Tuesday and disappeared from radar at 10:12 a.m. local time.
The Manager and Information Officer of Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) mentioned that the helicopter was traveling from Solukhumbu to Kathmandu but lost contact with the control tower around 10 a.m. The connection abruptly ceased thereafter.
Additionally, according to a report from the Himalayan Times, the senior captain of the private helicopter is identified as Chet B. Gurung. The helicopter is currently out of contact, with no communication established with the control tower. The last message received from the helicopter was a simple ‘hello’ through Viber.
