9 accused of online loan apps involved in blackmail arrested

In Islamabad, the FIA cybercrime circle has apprehended nine individuals connected to online loan apps engaged in blackmailing activities. The arrests were made during multiple operations conducted in Rawalpindi, specifically in the Syedpur Road area.

According to the FIA spokesperson, the operations resulted in the arrest of nine suspects, while a case was registered against 19 individuals. Additionally, several offices of the company located in a plaza were sealed.

The spokesperson further stated that the accused had a daily quota of contacting citizens, and they utilized various phone calls to target affected individuals, as well as their friends and relatives.

The spokesperson also revealed that, during the operation, a significant amount of evidence was seized, including personal data obtained through loan apps, numerous documents, computers, laptops, and SIM cards.

The FIA Cyber Crime Circle has informed that the investigation of the apprehended suspects is currently underway, and efforts are being made to capture their accomplices through ongoing raids.

It is important to highlight that in Rawalpindi, a person named Mahmood Masood tragically took his own life after borrowing 13,000 rupees from an online company and being unable to repay it. This incident prompted ongoing actions against such practices.
