The nation is joyfully commemorating its 76th Independence Anniversary today (Monday), with a deep sense of patriotic enthusiasm.

The day began with a 31-gun salute in the federal capital and a 21-gun salute at the provincial headquarters. Mosques echoed with special prayers for the country’s peace, unity, and prosperity.
A moment of silence resonated throughout the nation as sirens marked the commencement of the flag-raising ceremony at nine in the morning.
A ceremonial changing of the guard unfolded at Karachi’s Mazar-e-Quaid, where a meticulously turned-out unit of cadets from the Pakistan Naval Academy assumed their responsibilities.
Likewise, a similar ceremony unfolded at Lahore’s Mazar-e-Iqbal, as Punjab Rangers handed over their duties to the Pakistan Army. President Dr Arif Alvi and outgoing Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif conveyed heartfelt felicitations to the entire nation through separate messages on this Independence Anniversary.
In his message, the president urged the nation to recommit on this day to upholding the principles of democracy, freedom, equality, tolerance, forgiveness, socio-economic justice, and moral values as illuminated by Islam. He emphasized that the stories of those who overcame challenges to reach Pakistan serve as an inspirational legacy for future generations.
Prime Minister Shehbaz stated, “This day holds a unique significance in our hearts, as it marks a historic struggle for freedom that culminated in the establishment of the State of Pakistan.” He paid tribute to the visionary leadership of Quaid-i-Azam and other stalwarts without whom the dream of Pakistan would not have materialized.
The prime minister emphasized that as the 76th Independence Anniversary is celebrated, it is imperative to summon the spirit that characterized the freedom movement, embracing unity and self-confidence to navigate the path ahead. He pledged unwavering support to the oppressed people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir, offering political, moral, and diplomatic backing.
US Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee, the founder and chair of the US House’s Congressional Pakistan Caucus, extended her warm wishes to Pakistan. In a video message, she acknowledged the country’s resilience in the face of challenges and natural disasters, praising the Pakistani people’s determination. She underscored the ongoing commitment to assisting Pakistan, recognizing the bonds of friendship, regional security, democracy, trade, education, women’s empowerment, and humanitarian relief that unite the US and Pakistan.
With an affirmation of enduring cooperation, she concluded by saying, “May God bless all of you. Happy Pakistan Independence Day. Pakistan Zindabad!”
