The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) paid homage to former cricket team captain Imran Khan for his outstanding performance in the 1987 World Cup. Imran Khan, who now leads the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party after transitioning to politics more than two decades ago, was commemorated by the board as the 2023 ICC Men’s World Cup is set to commence next month in India.
The PCB used social media to take cricket enthusiasts on a nostalgic journey, highlighting Imran Khan’s impressive stats from that era. The post stated, “Imran Khan, with 17 wickets in six innings at an average of 13.05, was the second-leading wicket-taker of the 1987 World Cup.” It’s worth noting that Imran Khan is currently in judicial custody at Attock Jail in connection with the cipher case, following the suspension of his sentence in the Toshakhana case by the Islamabad High Court.
