The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has recently announced a notification regarding an increase in the prices of liquefied natural gas (LNG). This development, as reported by News, is expected to have an impact on consumers and gas companies in Pakistan.
According to the notification, OGRA has raised the prices of re-gasified liquefied natural gas (LNG) for both Sui Northern Gas Pipeline Limited (SNGPL) and Sui Southern Gas Company Limited (SSGC) for the remaining duration of October.
For SNGPL consumers, the price of liquified gas has been increased by $0.50 per mmbtu, while for SSGC consumers, the rate has been increased by $0.51 per mmbtu.
The new LNG price for SNGPL has been set at $13.33 per unit, while the price for SSGC has been set at $13.87 per MMBTU.
It is worth mentioning that last month, Pakistan signed a framework agreement with Azerbaijan for the procurement of Liquified Natural Gas (LNG) on flexible terms. The agreement, witnessed by then-Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, was signed between Pakistan LNG Limited and Azeri Company SOCAR in Lahore. The initial tenure of the agreement is one year, with an option for an extension of one more year.
