ISLAMABAD: Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Fazal (JUI-F) head Maulana Fazlur Rehman has stated that PPP chairman Bilawal Bhutto’s recent remarks about ‘old politicians’ were specifically directed towards his father, Asif Zardari.
During a meeting with PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif, Maulana Fazlur Rehman, along with PML-N president Shehbaz Sharif, Senior organizer Maryam Nawaz, and former finance minister Ishaq Dar, discussed seat adjustment for the upcoming general elections.
Adding further, Maulana Fazlur Rehman stated that PML-N and JUI-F will participate together in the election, while efforts are underway to engage other parties as well.
Emphasizing on the importance of transparent elections, Maulana Fazlur Rehman stressed that every institution should play its role within its jurisdiction, as Pakistan cannot afford another controversial election.
Earlier, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, chairman of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), appealed to the masses to give him a chance in the upcoming general elections in 2024, vowing to serve them.
Highlighting the need for a new generation of politicians, Bilawal urged the elder politicians to step aside and allow fresh leadership to address the issues of the people, emphasizing that continued animosity among political leaders would hinder progress.
Furthermore, it was announced on November 18 that PML-N and MQM-Pakistan would be contesting the upcoming general elections in 2024 jointly.
It is important to note that the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has scheduled the general elections for February 8, 2024, following a directive from the Supreme Court.
