The Lahore High Court has suspended the Election Commission’s notification of accepting the resignation of 70 members of the National Assembly of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf.
According to reports, Justice Shahid Karim of Lahore High Court heard the petitions against accepting the resignation of 70 members of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf National Assembly, In which the court while approving the petitions temporarily suspended the Election Commission’s notification to de-notify 70 members of the National Assembly.
The court also stopped the by-elections in the respective National Assembly constituencies of Punjab and issued notices to the Speaker, Election Commission, asking them to reply by March 7 and adjourned the hearing.
In the petitions filed by the members of the National Assembly of PTI, it was argued that it was a malicious decision of the Speaker to accept their resignations as they had withdrawn their resignations and yet they accepted the resignations and The Election Commission de-notified them.
In the petitions, it was pleaded that they want to go back to the National Assembly, so the Election Commission’s de-notification notification should be suspended.
Earlier, the Lahore High Court has suspended the decision to accept the resignation and de-notification of 43 members of the PTI Assembly and ordered to stop the election there.
