Maximum price of 38 medicines fixed, notification issued

ISLAMABAD: Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DRAP) has issued a notification setting the maximum price of 38 medicines.

The Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) had revised the prices of 38 medicines on February 10. A summary of pricing was sent by the Ministry of Health.

According to DRAP sources, 38 medicines include injections, tablets, creams, gels and drops, out of which 20 medicines have had their MRP fixed after the price reduction, while 18 new medicines have had their maximum prices fixed. There has been a reduction in the cost of medicines for skin infections and various types of cancer.

According to the notification, the price of eye drops, bone diseases, blood pressure, stroke, heart attack prevention medicine, breast and lung cancer and infection medicine has been reduced.

Gynecological diseases, bacterial infections, joint and heart diseases, colon cancer, blood and lung cancer, new cholesterol-lowering drug have been priced.

Apart from this, the maximum price of the new drug was fixed for the patients suffering from malnutrition, while the price of the new drug for increasing the immunity of children and the elderly was fixed.
