Islamabad: President Arif Alvi has announced to hold general elections in Punjab on April 30.
According to the details, President Arif Alvi has given approval to hold general elections of Punjab Assembly on April 30.
The President made the announcement after considering the dates suggested by the Election Commission.
The Election Commission suggested the dates from April 30 to May 7 to the President and also suggested that the elections should preferably be held on Sundays.
Earlier, the Election Commission has sent a letter to the President of the country for general elections in the light of the Supreme Court’s decision after the important meeting.
The Election Commission said that after receiving the date from the President, the Election Commission is ready to perform its constitutional and legal duties.
It was said in the Election Commission declaration that a letter has also been sent to the Governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. In which it is written that in the light of the order of the Supreme Court, the Election Commission is waiting for your reply.
It should be remembered that the Supreme Court has ordered the Election Commission to conduct elections in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa within ninety days.
The Supreme Court pronounced the decision by a majority of three to two. It has been said in the court decision that elections are an important element in parliamentary democracy, elections must be held within ninety days after the dissolution of the assembly.
