In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, October 8 has also been set as the date for elections

After Punjab, the Election Commission of Pakistan has announced to set the date of October 8 for general elections in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa as well.

According to the notification issued by the Election Commission, general elections will be held in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on October 8, for which the election schedule will be released later.

Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Haji Ghulam Ali had suggested that the date of election in the province be held on October 8.

He had told the Election Commission through a letter that terrorist activities are increasing in the province on a daily basis, on March 15 in South Waziristan, on March 19 in Khyber and on the night of March 22 in DI Khan, 3 were killed in an attack on security forces.

It was stated in the letter that ISI Brigadier Mustafa Kamal was martyred while seven jawans were injured in the attack of terrorists in Waziristan on March 21.

It should be noted that the Election Commission has also postponed the general elections scheduled for April 30 in Punjab to October 8. In this regard, the commission had said that it was not possible to hold transparent elections in the province on April 30, and postponed the elections under Article 2018 (3) and Section 58 and 8C of the Election Act, 2017.

The spokesman of the institution had said that all the institutions had recommended to postpone the election, but in the current situation, it is not possible to conduct clean and transparent elections.
