Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has given his assurance to the Chief of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI), Maulana Fazlur Rehman, that all concerns regarding the conduct of elections will be addressed.
As per the details, the leadership of the Pakistan Muslim League (PML) mobilized to extend warm greetings to Maulana Fazlur Rehman, the chief of the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM). Maulana Fazlur Rehman visited the Prime Minister House for a meeting with Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, with Asad Mahmood also present during the discussions.
Sources indicate that during the meeting, the Prime Minister and Maulana Fazlur Rehman discussed the current political situation.
Shahbaz Sharif briefed Maulana Fazlur Rehman on the prevailing circumstances, and Maulana Fazlur Rehman expressed his support for the Dubai meeting.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif assured Maulana Fazlur Rehman that all reservations would be addressed.
In contrast, Nawaz Sharif has extended an invitation to the Chief of Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM), Maulana Fazlur Rehman, to join him in Dubai. The leader of the Pakistan Muslim League (PML) will now travel to Dubai instead of London, altering his plans while in Saudi Arabia.
Aslam Ghori, the spokesperson for the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F), has emphasized their right to express reservations about not being consulted regarding the Dubai discussions.
It should be noted that yesterday, the reasons behind Maulana Fazlur Rehman’s dissatisfaction with the government came to light. Fazlur Rehman advocates for extending the tenure of the assemblies, while Asif Zardari opposes such an extension and has urged Nawaz Sharif to prioritize timely elections, a request that Nawaz Sharif has accepted.
Due to his firm stance on the matter, Maulana Fazlur Rehman was not included in the Dubai meeting.
