Rawalpindi: Awami Muslim League chief Sheikh Rasheed says that the summary for the appointment has arrived, now it will be a question of merit rather than one’s likes or dislikes.
According to the details, Awami Muslim League chief Sheikh Rasheed said in his statement on the social networking website Twitter that the summary for the appointment has arrived, by adding all the names, the organization has shown the proof of foresight.
Sheikh Rasheed said that merit will not be a question of anyone’s likes or dislikes, whoever comes as the army chief will be loyal to the country and his institution away from politics and will try to support the ruined economy.
Yesterday, the GHQ sent the names and dossiers of senior lieutenant generals to the Ministry of Defense regarding the appointment of the new chief of the Pakistan Army.
The chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee will also be appointed from among these lieutenant generals.
Lt. Gen. Asim Munir’s name is included in the first rank. Lt. Gen. Sahir Shamshad Mirza’s name is in the second rank in the list and Lt. Gen. Azhar Abbas is in the third rank in the seniority list.
In the seniority list of appointments of four-star generals, Lt. Gen. Nauman Mehmood is fourth and former DGISI Lt. Gen. Faiz Hameed is at the fifth position, while Lt. Gen. Muhammad Amir’s name is included at the sixth position.
According to the constitution, the power of four-star appointments in the armed forces rests with the prime minister, while formal approval of four-star appointments is given by the president.
