The England team was bowled out for 657 runs on the second day of the first Test match against Pakistan at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.
Ben Stokes won the toss and elected to bat first and from the very first over of the innings, England started aggressively and broke the 112-year-old record of scoring 500 runs in a single day of a Test match. Zach Crowley (122), Ben Duckett (107), Ollie Pope (108) and Harry Brooke (153) scored centuries and stroked the Pakistan bowlers all around the ground.
Zahid Mahmood made his debut in international Test cricket for the Pakistani team and his first Test in the longest format did not start well for him. Zahid Mahmood took 235 runs in 33 overs, which was the highest by a bowler in a Test debut.
Harry Brook scored 27 off Zahid Mahmood’s over, the highest by a Pakistani bowler in Test cricket.
Zahid Mahmood is now on the first place in the list of most runs took by a bowler in an innings of a debut Test.
Former Sri Lankan off-spinner Suraj Randev was second against India in the Colombo Test in 2010 with 222 runs in 72 overs, former Australian off-spinner Jason Kariza was third in Nagpur Test against India in 2008 (215 runs in 43.5 overs), former West Indian Fast bowler Omari Banks is in the fourth position after giving 204 runs in 40 overs against Australia in Bridgetown Test in 2003, while former Indian spinner Nalish Kulkarni is in the fifth position in this list after giving 195 runs in 70 overs against Sri Lanka in Colombo Test in 1997.
