Cricket South Africa has appointed Aiden Markram as its T20I captain.
Markram has taken over the leadership in the shortest format from Temba Baoma. Under the leadership of Bauma, the South African team was twice eliminated from the group stage of the T20 World Cup.
Apart from this, the services of JP Duminy as batting coach and Rory Kleinveldt as bowling coach have been added to the white ball setup.
Notably, Duminy will remain with the team on a permanent basis while Kleinveldt will only be a part of the setup for the upcoming West Indies series.
“I would like to congratulate Aiden Markram on his appointment as the captain of the Proteas T20I team. We have no doubt that the team will continue to thrive under his leadership,” Director of Cricket Enoch Nkwe said in a statement.
He said that at the same time, we would like to thank Temba Bauma for the way he has been carrying out this responsibility in the last two years.
Markram recently led Sunrisers Eastern Cape to victory in the South Africa T20 League. In 2014, he led the Under-19 team in the U19 Men’s Cricket World Cup.
