Multan Sultans defeated Quetta Gladiators

In the 28th match of PSL 8, Multan Sultans defeated Quetta Gladiators by 9 runs.

In the match played in Rawalpindi, in pursuit of 263 runs given by Multan Sultans, the team of Quetta Gladiators managed to score 253 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in the allotted overs.

Even the half-centuries of Umair Yusuf and Iftikhar Ahmed could not save Quetta from defeat, both players scored 67 and 53 runs respectively.

Umar Akmal was the target of Abbas Afridi after scoring 28 runs while captain Muhammad Nawaz returned to the pavilion after scoring 16 runs.

For Multan Sultans, Abbas Afridi scored a hat-trick and guided five players to the pavilion, while Ehsanullah took two wickets.

Earlier, Multan Sultans scored 262 runs for the loss of 3 wickets in the allotted overs thanks to Usman Khan’s brilliant century and set the Gladiators a target of 263 runs to win.

Opener Usman Khan and skipper Mohammad Rizwan provided a good start of 157 runs, Usman Khan scored the fastest PSL century and played an innings of 120 runs off 43 balls.

His innings included 9 sixes and 12 fours while Usman Khan was stumped by Mohammad Nawaz at the hands of Umar Akmal.

Captain Muhammad Rizwan stood out with 55 runs, Rilee Rusowe scored 15 runs, Tim David 43 and Kieron Pollard remained not out with 23 runs.

On behalf of Multan Sultans, Qais Ahmed took two wickets while Mohammad Nawaz took one wicket.

Quetta Gladiators captain Mohammad Nawaz won the toss and invited Mohammad Rizwan’s Multan Sultans to bat first.

Izharul Haq Naveed was included in Multan Sultans team while Sarfaraz Ahmed is not included in Quetta Gladiators team due to injury.

It should be noted that both the teams competed in ten matches of PSL, Multan Sultans won in 6 matches while Gladiators won in 4 matches.
