First Eliminator: Zalmi knocks Islamabad out of the event

Lahore: Aamir Jamal and Salman Irshad’s brilliant spell helped Peshawar Zalmi to victory.

According to the details, in the first eliminator being played at Gaddafi Stadium, Peshawar Zalmi has qualified for the second eliminator by defeating Islamabad United by 12 runs.

Earlier, thanks to captain Babar Azam’s excellent half-century and Haris’ aggressive batting, Peshawar Zalmi had given Islamabad United a target of 184 runs to win in the first eliminator of HBL PSL 8Peshawar Zalmi will face Lahore Qalandars tomorrow to go to the final of the event.

Chasing a target of 184 runs, Islamabad United were restricted to 171 runs, half-centuries from Sohaib Maqsood and Alex Hales went in vain.

On behalf of Peshawar Zalmi, Aamir Jamal and Salman Irshad took two wickets each with excellent bowling.

Captain Babar Azam played a brilliant innings of 64 runs off 39 balls, including 10 fours in Babar’s innings. Muhammad Haris played an impressive innings of 34 runs off 17 balls, Saim Ayub scored 23 runs.

On behalf of United, captain Shadab Khan dismissed two players, Wasim Jr., Fazl Farooqui, Faheem Ashraf, Hasan Ali took one wicket each.
