The Premier League allowed Muslim players to stop the match to Open their fast.
According to Sky Sports, refereeing bodies have told match officials in the Premier League and the English Football League that they can stop play so players can break their fast during the holy month of Ramadan.
Match officials in the world’s biggest and most successful football league have been issued guidelines to allow players to break their fast on the touchline during breaks in play.
Referees have also been encouraged to identify the players who will be fasting and have been instructed to determine the time period required for breaking the fast during the match.
Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah, Chelsea midfielder N’Golo and Manchester City winger Riyad Mahrez are among the players who will fast.
It should be noted that the match between Leicester City and Crystal Palace in 2021 was stopped after half an hour by referee Graham Scott so that Wesley Fofana and Cheikh Kuyt could break their fast.
