Kane Williamson, who has recuperated from an injury, will resume his role as the team’s leader for this significant tournament, with Tom Latham serving as his vice-captain. The squad sees the return of Jimmy Neesham and Will Young to the World Cup lineup, while Finn Allen, fast bowler Kyle Jameson, and Adam Milne have not been included.

The announced Kiwi squad consists of these players. Kane Williamson (captain), Tom Latham (wicketkeeper, vice-captain), Trent Boult, Mark Chapman, Dion Conway, Lockie Ferguson, Matt Henry, Daryl Mitchell, Jimmy Neesham, Glenn Phillips, Rachin Ravindra, Mitchell Santner, Ash Sodhi, Tim Southee and Will Young

Kane Williamson holds the distinction of being the only captain in the 2023 World Cup who also led his team in the 2019 World Cup. Additionally, fast bowler Tim Southee will join him for his fourth consecutive World Cup appearance. Noteworthy is the inclusion of Mark Chapman, Dion Conway, Daryl Mitchell, and Glenn Phillips, all earning their debut selections in the ODI World Cup squad.

It’s important to highlight that New Zealand finished as the runner-up in the 2019 World Cup, narrowly losing to England in a dramatic Super Over, with England securing their first-ever world champion title.

New Zealand’s journey in the 2023 mega event will kick off with a showdown against the defending champions, England, in the World Cup opener scheduled for October 5 in Ahmedabad.

Until September 28, all participating teams have the opportunity to complete their 15-man squads, and any modifications beyond that date will necessitate approval from the ICC.
