Richarlison stole the show for Brazil last night in their World Cup opener, a 2-0 victory over a tough Serbian team.

The Tottenham player scored two goals, one of which was a special wondergoal, which were enough to win the game for his team and put him in the running for the Golden Boot, according to the bookies.

After a delightful first touch, his spectacular overhead kick for his second goal had every Lusail Stadium supporter on the edge of their seats.

It will be remembered as one of the most memorable World Cup goals and may even win the award for Goal of the Tournament.

When celebrating the beauty, he and all of his Selecao teammates were overcome with emotion. Even Gabriel Jesus, who was left out of the starting lineup due to Richarlison’s absence, stood up and applauded, demonstrating truly outstanding sportsmanship on the part of Arsenal’s talisman.

Nobody can deny it, there is a deliberate aura about Brazil in Qatar.

They’re tournament favourites for a reason. They’ve got the quality. They’ve got the swagger.

So, it’s no surprise that the mood in the camp is sky high.

The positivity between the players was epitomised when a moment between Richarlison and footballing legend, Dani Alves, was caught on camera mid-game.

Richarlison had just been subbed off to a standing ovation from the Brazil support.

When he got to the bench he sat down alongside Alves – who was clearly delighted to see him.

Alves, ever the joker, pointed to a camera and then began engaging in one of the most bizarre handshakes with the match-winner.
