UK flights: British team satisfied with security arrangements at Islamabad airport

The UK Department for Transport's security assessment team has completed its evaluation of Islamabad International Airport. They expressed satisfaction with the airport's security measures, particularly for direct flights to the UK. The team commended the airport's efforts, provided recommendations, and will submit a final report to the Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority within three weeks.

Hajj 2024: Pakistani pilgrims reach Saudi Arabia via three flights

Pakistani pilgrims for Hajj 2024 arrived in Saudi Arabia via three flights, carrying a total of 530 passengers. The flight operation will continue till June 10, 2024, facilitating around 34,000 pilgrims through 170 flights. Hajj, a sacred Islamic pilgrimage, occurs annually during the twelfth month of the Islamic Calendar.

Singapore to impose green fuel levy on flights

Singapore plans to introduce a green fuel levy on flight tickets to support the transition to sustainable aviation fuel (SAF). The levy will vary based on factors such as flight distance and travel class, with a goal for departing flights to use 1-5% SAF by 2030. The aviation industry aims for net zero emissions by 2050.

PIA cancels another two dozen flights

In Karachi on Wednesday, Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) had to cancel 24 domestic and international flights due to a limited fuel supply from Pakistan State Oil (PSO). Only 26 of PIA's scheduled flights took off that day. According to official sources, PIA paid PSO Rs150 million for fueling these 26 flights on that day. The previous day, PSO had supplied fuel for just 13 PIA flights, consisting of 10 international and 3 domestic routes, after receiving Rs125 million in payment.

14 PIA flights cancelled due to lack of fuel

Due to unpaid dues, Pakistan State Oil (PSO) has ceased supplying fuel to Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) at Multan, Sukkur, and Gilgit airports, further worsening the dire financial situation of the national flag carrier.
