PIA privatization: Govt forms new board of directors

PIA has reorganized its board of directors to accelerate the privatization process. An 11-member board, featuring mostly new faces, was confirmed and notified to the main stock exchange. The government formed a committee, headed by the Defense and Aviation Minister, to expedite the outsourcing of major airports and privatization of PIA. The committee includes key government officials.

PM Kakar forms 7-member committee on general elections

Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq formed a seven-member committee, including Minister Shahid Ashraf Tarar and chief secretaries of four provinces, to oversee general elections. The committee will assess election requirements, ensure additional security, and implement Election Commission instructions for effective elections. PM Kakar reiterated that general elections will take place on February 8, aiming for economic stability.

Committee Forms to Investigate Karachi Mall Fire

Following the directives of the caretaker Chief Minister of Sindh, Commissioner Karachi has formed a technical committee to determine the cause of the massive fire inside RJ Shopping Mall at Karachi’s Rashid Minhas Road. The technical committee, under the supervision of Deputy Commissioner East, Altaf Sheikh, will investigate the possible reasons and factors that led to the fire in the building and analyze the response time from the rescue department.
