The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has suspended lawmakers elected on reserved seats after the Supreme Court's verdict on the matter. This decision follows the suspension of the PHC's and ECP's verdict on same by a three-member SC bench. The Punjab Assembly speaker has also suspended the allocation of reserved seats to the coalition.

Peshawar High Court previously ordered restraint from administering oath to members elected on reserved seats. Election Commission allocated seats claimed by PTI-backed Sunni Ittehad Council to other parties.

PTI calls for ECP’s resignation after reserved seats verdict

PTI Senator Ali Zafar has demanded the resignation of Pakistan's Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) after the rejection of Sunni Ittehad Council’s (SIC) plea for reserved seats. Zafar also called for proceedings against the Chief Election Commissioner, stating the ECP committed a constitutional mistake by ruling against the SIC. The ECP ruled that SIC is not eligible for reserved seats in the National Assembly.
