ECP suspends lawmakers elected on reserved seats

The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has suspended lawmakers elected on reserved seats after the Supreme Court's verdict on the matter. This decision follows the suspension of the PHC's and ECP's verdict on same by a three-member SC bench. The Punjab Assembly speaker has also suspended the allocation of reserved seats to the coalition.

SHC orders to not count reserved seats’ votes in presidential election

Sindh High Court ordered not to count the votes of three reserved seats in the presidential election. Notices were issued to Election Commission of Pakistan and others for March 28. Peshawar High Court previously ordered restraint from administering oath to members elected on reserved seats. Election Commission allocated seats claimed by PTI-backed Sunni Ittehad Council to other parties.

PTI calls for ECP’s resignation after reserved seats verdict

PTI Senator Ali Zafar has demanded the resignation of Pakistan's Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) after the rejection of Sunni Ittehad Council’s (SIC) plea for reserved seats. Zafar also called for proceedings against the Chief Election Commissioner, stating the ECP committed a constitutional mistake by ruling against the SIC. The ECP ruled that SIC is not eligible for reserved seats in the National Assembly.

Will PTI get reserved seats in NA?

The Election Commission of Pakistan stated that PTI cannot receive reserved National Assembly seats, as the alliance with MWM failed to submit the list of seats for women before the deadline. PTI's founder directed to form alliances with MWM in Punjab and at the center, and with JI in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. PTI-backed independent candidates won several seats.
