Bilawal takes dig at Nawaz’s fourth premiership attempt

QUETTA: PPP Chairperson Bilawal Bhutto Zardari asserted on Friday that he has received information suggesting that the three-time Prime Minister and PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif is poised to return to power for the fourth time, purportedly to “rescue the country.”

Addressing the Balochistan High Court Bar Association in Quetta, Bilawal acknowledged his awareness of the electoral process in Pakistan, emphasizing that an awakened public, if mobilized, possesses the unstoppable ability to exercise their right to choose leaders.

Maintaining that general elections are slated for February 8 in the country, Bilawal took a swipe at PTI Chairman Imran Khan, labeling the 70-year-old as the “leader of the youth” who, despite overlooking the issue of missing persons, is being considered as the ‘last option.’

Encouraging the public to defy expectations on election day, Bilawal urged citizens to cast their votes for a transformative change. Criticizing both Imran and Nawaz, the PPP chairman cautioned against entrusting the destiny of the country to leaders whose politics, characterized by hatred, division, and neglect of critical issues, has allegedly devalued the ‘blood of the people.’

Prior to Bilawal’s remarks, PPP Central Information Secretary Shazia Marri underscored her party’s consistent advocacy for missing persons. She noted that PPP Co-Chairperson Asif Ali Zardari had initiated the ‘Aghaz-e-Huqooq-e-Balochistan Package,’ facilitated the operationalization of Gwadar Port, established universities, advocated for a 50 per cent share for Balochistan in the Saindak project, and empowered provinces through the 18th Amendment.
