In Lahore, a police raid conducted on Sunday resulted in the apprehension of 45 illegal Afghans who were employed at a brick kiln in Daska. The detained individuals include men, children, and women.
Acting on information about the presence of illegal Afghan workers at a brick kiln in Bajwa, the police carried out the raid, leading to the arrest of 45 illegal Afghans who were employed by the kiln’s owner and manager.
During the operation, Pasrur police requested legal documentation, permits, and visas from both the kiln’s owners and the Afghan workers. As neither party could provide evidence of legal residence in Pakistan, they were all taken into police custody and relocated to the Sialkot Hockey Stadium camp. The kiln’s owner, Arshad, disclosed that accountant Tanzib had brought the illegal Afghans to the facility, resulting in the arrest of the kiln owner by Pasrur police.
This incident follows the government’s recent initiative to round up undocumented foreigners, primarily illegal Afghan refugees, across the country after the expiration of a midnight deadline for them to leave Pakistan. The relocation of individuals to temporary holding centers commenced a day earlier than originally announced.
