Despite efforts to crack down on illegal smuggling and the tragic loss of lives in the Yunnan boat incident, the flow of illegal migration continues unabated.
Another 110 Pakistanis have recently been apprehended in Iran for attempting to enter the country illegally. These individuals were allegedly planning to illegally travel to Greece via Iran, and they hail from various areas in the Punjab province, including Sargodha, Pakpattan, Hafizabad, Sialkot, Gujranwala, among others. The Iranian government has detained these individuals and subsequently deported them back to Pakistan. The total number of Pakistanis deported from Iran has now reached 265, as reported by ARY News.
The FIA Human Trafficking Cell has taken custody of all the deported individuals for further investigation.
It is important to highlight that earlier this month, a tragic incident occurred in which a boat carrying illegal immigrants sank near Greece. More than 700 people were on board, including over 300 Pakistanis, resulting in the loss of numerous lives, with hundreds still missing.
In response to this tragedy, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif ordered a crackdown on individuals involved in human trafficking within the country. The FIA has been conducting operations in accordance with these orders, leading to the arrest of several suspects thus far.
