Amir Jamaat-e-Islami has expressed concerns about the mental toll of inflation, citing more than a dozen cases of suicide linked to rising electricity bills. In contrast, countries like Bangladesh, Turkey, and India are advancing while Pakistan appears to be regressing.
In protest against inflation, Jamaat-e-Islami organized a sit-in in front of the Governor House. Sirajul Haq, in his address, lamented that India, our adversary, has made strides in space exploration, while we find ourselves on the streets protesting for basic necessities like flour and sugar. The pervasive inflation has strained the well-being of individuals, making it challenging to maintain the balance between body and soul.
Pakistan boasts abundant resources such as wheat and minerals, yet the soaring inflation prevents people from accessing them. Today, our national symbol seems to be a begging bowl. While promises of building 5 million houses have been made, the reality on the ground remains stark.
He emphasized that some individuals have used promises of housing as a cover for their own gain, while others have touted aspirations of transforming the nation into an Asian Tiger. His struggle, he clarified, is not directed at any specific person but rather against oppression, ignorance, unrest, and corruption.
Amir Jamaat-e-Islami expressed his intention to present 25 million copies of a publication to the new Chief Justice of Pakistan, recognizing the Chief Justice’s extensive judicial experience and the potential for enhancing the standards of justice.
Sirajul Haque mentioned that Bilawal Bhutto initiated a lengthy march from Karachi, and Maulana Fazlur Rehman organized a protest against rising prices. He pointed out that figures ranging from Ishaq Dar to Asad Umar had followed a similar course, seeking assistance from the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
He asserted that the solution to their problems lies not with the IMF but in following the path of Allah and the Messenger. He emphasized that the IMF should not be revered as a deity, and they are prepared to challenge its authority.
Amir Jamaat-e-Islami pointed out that the Prime Minister has acknowledged raising electricity bills at the behest of the IMF and has also stated his intention to negotiate with the IMF regarding installment plans for these bills. It’s paradoxical that a Prime Minister seeking IMF approval for providing relief to the people does not acknowledge this fact.
He highlighted that the economic system has suffered extensive damage under the governance of incompetent leaders who seem beholden to the IMF. He questioned the mysterious maneuvering that took place over the course of 16 months, with no clear explanations or responses provided to the public thus far.
Sirajul Haque emphasized his desire to eradicate corruption, unemployment, ignorance, and exploitation in the country. His vision is to witness Pakistan ascend on the global stage. He assured that their movement and campaign will persist. Following their activities in Rahim Yar Khan, Leh, Muzaffargarh, and Faisalabad, they have gathered here. Their efforts are not driven by personal vendettas, and they have not burdened the nation with debt.
Amir Jamaat-e-Islami, Sirajul Haque, proudly stated that none of his party workers are implicated in cases related to Panama, the National Accountability Bureau (NAB), or the Tosha Khana case.
