No space for intolerance, extremism in Islam and society: COAS Asim Munir


In Rawalpindi, a delegation of the Christian Community, led by the respected Dr. Azad Marshall, who serves as the Moderator/President of Bishops in the Church of Pakistan and as the Bishop of Raiwind, held a meeting with Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir at the General Headquarters, as reported by khabristan News, quoting ISPR on Monday.

The discussions during the meeting revolved around topics of mutual interest, religious matters, and the promotion of inter-faith harmony, according to a press statement from Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

COAS General Syed Asim Munir praised the significant contributions of the Pakistani Christian Community to the nation’s development, particularly their efforts in advancing quality education, healthcare, philanthropic services, and their commendable role in defending the country. The army chief expressed profound respect for the Christian community and emphasized the importance of fostering greater interfaith harmony in society to uphold the true vision of a united and progressive Pakistan, as envisioned by Quaid-e-Azam.

COAS Asim Munir underscored, “Islam is a religion of peace, and there is no place for intolerance and extremism in Islam and society. In a civilized society, no one should take the law into their own hands.”

Members of the Christian Community acknowledged the Pakistan Army’s endeavors in combating terrorism and creating a secure environment for minorities in the country. They commended the army chief’s gesture as an inspiration for Pakistani minorities to play a more active and significant role in nation-building and to regain confidence in a cohesive and tolerant society.
