The appointment of Lieutenant General Munir as the Chairman of NADRA has been approved.

Under the chairmanship of Prime Minister’s Caretaker Minister Anwar-ul-Haq, Lieutenant General Munir Afzal’s appointment as the Chairman of NADRA has been approved.

Lieutenant General Muhammad Munir Afzal has extensive experience in military IT. He has also served in United Nations missions.

Lieutenant General Muhammad Munir Afzal is an M.Phil in Public Policy and International Security Management. He conducted research on public policy response to the 2010 floods.

Munir Afzal has experience in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and Remote Sensing. He has received presidential awards for fast-track geographical data creation through photometry. He has also worked in Washington D.C. for the National Resource Strategy at the National Defense University.

Munir Afzal is a candidate for a Ph.D. in Remote Sensing in Islamabad. His research paper is related to remote sensing and artificial intelligence in plant disease identification. He has several research publications to his credit on various aspects of IT and GIS.

As a Major General, he served as the Director General Command, Control, and Communications (C4I). Lieutenant General Munir Afzal has also served as the Director General of Computers and Intelligence (C41) Directorate. After his promotion to Lieutenant General, he held the position of Inspector General Communication and IT. Following further promotions, he also served as the Commander of Pakistan Army Cyber Command.
