As per the statement from the PM Office, Kakar is slated to attend the BRF’s opening ceremony and deliver a speech at the high-level forum, which is themed ‘Connectivity in an Open Global Economy’ on October 18.

During his visit to China, the prime minister will engage in bilateral discussions with President Xi Jinping, high-ranking Chinese officials, and other foreign dignitaries attending the forum. He also plans to meet with prominent Chinese entrepreneurs to facilitate the expansion of bilateral trade and investments.

Additionally, Kakar is expected to visit Urumqi in the Xinjiang Autonomous Region of China, where he intends to hold meetings with local leaders and business figures, aiming to bolster trade, investment, and people-to-people relations.

The timing of the premier’s visit is significant, given the ongoing celebrations commemorating the ten-year anniversary of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), a flagship project of China’s Belt and Road Initiative. During his visit, he will underscore the notable accomplishments and future priorities of CPEC and reiterate Pakistan’s strong commitment to collectively promote its high-quality development.
