The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has recently addressed President Arif Alvi’s comments concerning the general elections. President Dr. Arif Alvi expressed his disappointment in not receiving a response from the governments of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa after sending them letters. He mentioned that he had summoned the Punjab and KP election commissioners but they did not attend the meeting. Additionally, the President wrote a letter to the law minister regarding elections, but the minister answered that the president lacked the authority to question the election date.
President Alvi highlighted concerns about the digital census and proposed holding the general elections on November 6 or earlier. However, the law ministry issued a statement asserting that the president does not possess the jurisdiction to determine the election date.
In another context, President Alvi expressed his trust in the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman, considering him to be honest in financial matters and a patriot. He also acknowledges him as his leader.
