Punjab CM Applauds Facilities at NICVD during Visit with Sindh CM

Mohsin Naqvi, NICVD visit, Maqbool Baqar

KARACHI: Visiting Caretaker Chief Minister of Punjab Mohsin Naqvi along with Caretaker CM of Sindh Justice Maqbool Baqar visited the NICVD on Wednesday, ARY News reported.

Naqvi lauded the National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases (NICVD) and its Chest Mobile Vans, adding that the best health facilities are being provided to patients in Sindh.

The Caretaker CM said that his government will introduce a similar model of health facilities in Punjab.

The Chief Minister of Sindh, Maqbool Baqar, while talking to the media, said he has no differences with the Caretaker Health Minister of Sindh.

“We didn’t approve the procurement of robots for hospitals in Sindh, nor issued tenders,” Maqbool Baqar said. “The previous government had issued tenders for robots, and we could not cancel the tender constitutionally. The health minister cancelled the tender.”

The Caretaker CM said that the Health Minister wanted to divert the funds allocated for robots to some other healthcare requirements.

“The caretaker government could not divert the funds approved by the assembly to some other purpose,” Maqbool Baqar said.

“We are considering the procurement of Chinese robots with a low price tag,” the Sindh CM said. “Nothing has been finalized yet regarding the price of Chinese robots,” he added.

The previous Sindh government had planned the procurement of two robots each for the Sindh Institute of Urology and Transplantation (SIUT) and Liaquat University Hospital, Hyderabad, while one each for the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre, Karachi, and Gambat Institute of Medical Sciences.

Punjab CM Mohsin Naqvi visited the National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases (NICVD) along with Sindh CM Maqbool Baqar. Naqvi praised the health facilities at NICVD and expressed interest in implementing a similar model in Punjab. Baqar stated that there were no differences with the caretaker health minister and discussed the procurement of Chinese robots for healthcare purposes. Previous plans included the procurement of robots for various medical institutes in Sindh.
