The government approved the formation of a new board of Sui Southern


Islamabad: As per reliable sources, the federal government has granted its endorsement for the establishment of a fresh board for Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC), with Dr. Shamshad Akhtar set to assume the role of board chairperson.

Reports indicate that the green light was obtained from the federal cabinet through a circulation summary. The revamped Sui Southern board lineup will feature notable figures such as Khalid Rehman and Muhammad Akram, while Umar Zafarullah, Sahibzada Rafat Rauf Ali, and Rizwanullah Khan will also contribute their expertise to the board.

Furthermore, the new SSGC board will incorporate Taha Ahmad Khan as a member, with the board’s term slated for three years.

Concurrently, the government has finalized the nomination of Waseem Mukhtar for the position of Chairman of the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra). The formal approval for the appointment of the Nepra chairman is expected to be granted today.

Sources reveal that Waseem Mukhtar has held previous positions as the Managing Director of Pepco (Pakistan Electric Power Company) and the Central Power Purchasing Agency.
